Our Story
Hi, I'm Ash, Founder of Nutrigenomic Naturals®, I have personally overcome a few severe and debilitating, so called "incurable" autoimmune diseases and chronic pain through the power of Nutrigenomics, Integrative Medicine, Naturopathic Medicine and Epigenetic & Functional Medicine. This was out of pure desperation after conventional medicine failed to cure me or keep symptoms under control and left me with many intolerable side effects from the prescription drugs given to manage all my symptoms.
I went from wheelchair and bedridden, suffering with painful swollen joints, debilitating fatigue, chronic head and neck pain, painful muscle spasms, GI bleeding and many other symptoms, to being able to ditch almost all the meds and 90% of my symptoms thanks to alternative root-cause based treatments and lifestyle changes that allowed my body to heal, reverse the autoimmunity, lose 45lbs, become pain free again and get my life back.
The long list of issues I was diagnosed with are: Psoriasis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Chronic Leukemia /blood cancer, Chronic Lyme Disease and its co-infections, Mold infections, Mycoplasma infections, Mercury poisoning, intestinal dysbiosis, Ulcerative Colitis, NSAID induced GI bleeding, Sepsis, Sepsis Induced Dysautonomia, Tachycardia, DVT blood clots, 5 Pulmonary emboli in my left lung, Occipital Neuralgia (painful muscle spasms in the back of my head), Trigeminal dysphoria (head, neck and shoulder muscle tension with Migraines), Hypothyroid/ Hashimotos, PCOS and insulin resistance. It was an overwhelming amount of issues that began at the young age of 18.
By the grace of God, my never ending drive to get well, amazing Doctors, conventional and alternative treatments and the power of Nutraceuticals, I am lucky to be alive and so grateful to be fully functional and thriving again. However, it did rob me of my young adulthood with many years of suffering and It took me years to discover and identify all my causes and address them one by one. It was a lot of trial and error in different treatments, diets, supplements, lifestyle changes, exercise, modalities and biohacking, but I never gave up, I kept fighting and searching for answers and I learned a ton in the process.
Throughout my suffering and healing journey, I became incredibly fascinated with all aspects of health and wellness and especially passionate about helping others suffering to discover and treat their root causes (instead of just suppressing symptoms with medications or supplements) to restore their health, like I did.
I'm a big advocate of being proactive and preventing illness as well. I share my personal story because I want to empower people to be their own health detective, find the root causes of their illness and pursue treating that instead of masking symptoms, because, in most cases, when you address and correct all the underlying root causes the body can absolutely reverse the issue and heal itself. Giving the body what it needs and removing what it doesn't, can provide amazing results. Treating genetic polymorphisms being expressed when neccessary can go a long way. I didn't have faith or 100% belief in any type of alternative medicine let alone Nutraceuticals, until I witnessed it save my Dad's life after he was given 6 months to live from stage 4 Cirrhosis and liver failure. I was not ready to accept my Dad's death at the young age of 54, so I researched persistently and thankfully found an amazing Integrative MD that ended up saving his life with a simple IV therapy that is popular in Europe, called the PK protocol; which contains 3 natural substances: Phosphatidylcholine (a lipid derived from soybeans), Glutathione and Folinic acid. It did a complete cellular detox and actually reversed most of the Cirrhotic/fibrotic tissue in his liver. He also took a few supplements, but it was primarily this IV therapy he did daily for 6 months. That was 14 years ago. It was a shocking and amazing miracle! My own health crisis and my Father's were not my greatest suffering or inspiration though, that came years later when my family and I suddenly lost my Mother unexpectedly to chemo and radiation treatments for lung cancer, just 4 months after her shocking stage 4 metastatic cancer diagnosis. She had no symptoms and felt fine up until a couple weeks before being diagnosed. By that time, it had already spread from her lung cells to her bones causing back and hip pain (no lung symptoms). The diagnosis came much too late and unfortunately she did not have a fighting chance. She went into the hospital for diagnosis and never made it out. We did not get a chance to try all the effective alternative cancer treatments and cutting edge genetic immunotherapies. She passed at age 66, way too young and missed getting to meet or see her grandchildren grow up. Lung cancer is one of the many cancers that has no symptoms until it's already advanced, end stage.
What we saw and went through with her, no one should ever have to endure. It was a heartbreaking tragedy and the most awful experience to witness firsthand as one of her primary care givers. We tried so hard to help save her life. Her passing, of course, devastated my family and I. We have consulted with leading Doctors, practitioners and nutrition experts specializing in the field of Nutrigenomics to produce effective Nutraceuticals with the active bioidentical forms of nutrients that the body needs, instead of the common cheap synthetic forms that are poorly absorbed or unabsorbable entirely due to genetic polymorphisms (mutations).
Every human being has various genetic SNP’s (Single-nucleotide polymorphisms) which are gene mutations that alter the normal function of the gene, either mildy, moderately or severely. Many are harmless, but some cause the inability to convert synthetic forms of nutrients into the active forms the body needs and is able to use, resulting in deficientes that can cause symtoms and disease.
For example, about 61% of the population has at least one variant of the MTHFR SNP, rendering them unable to convert regular folic acid from food or synthetic supplements into the active form the body uses, because they lack sufficient production of enzymes neccessary to convert folic acid into it's active form: folate. So, they must supplement with the already converted, active form of folate called methyltetrahydrofolate. Otherwise, they will become deficient in this critical nutrient and over time it can cause symptoms and illness. This same MTHFR SNP also effects converting B12 in food and synthetic supplements (cynacobalamin) into it's active form and so the already converted, methylated, active form called methylcobalamin needs to be taken.
Synthetic forms of vitamins and nutrients are much cheaper and easier to produce versus active bioavailable forms, so they are very common in the market, but you will never find them in our formulas. We only use the active bioavailable forms that everyone can use, no matter which genetic SNPs you have. We don’t cut corners on this and that’s why our nutraceuticals are really effective and you can see by our reviews, that our customers get results and feel the benefits.
Our founder suffered with Chronic Fatigue syndrome resutling from a severe B12 and folate deficiency that was contributing to thyroid isuses and autoimmune symptoms, until a wonderful Doctor educated in NutriGenomics tested her for the MTHFR gene mutation variants and discovered she was compund heterozygous for 2 variants: A1298C and C677T, which explained why she was so deficient despite taking synthetic B12 and folic acid and eating foods that contained them.
Convertional blood labs showed high B12 and folic acid levels because these were not being used, since she could not convert them to the active forms and this was masking the deficiency. So, then she started supplementing with personalized doses of the active /already converted forms of B12 (methycobalamin) and the acitve form of folate ( methylfolate ) and the fatigue disappeared along with some autoimmune symptoms. It's amazing what can happen when the body gets the nutrients and enzymes it needs to function well. This is why we only use bioactive froms of nutrients in our supplements.
